PLC Team Feedback Sheet Team: Date: October 8, 2008 Facilitator: Wolfe Timekeeper: Capron Recorder: Hickey Team Members Present: Yabrove, Hickey, Capron, Wolfe, Risley, N. Hayes, L. Hazouri, Grush Meeting Purpose: We have to! :) Talk about successes and challenges in Writing.
Step-Up to Writing plan is working well for organizing paragraphs. For those who struggle w/ Step-Up plan, we've used Four square writing plan, tortilla plan, color strips, Writing Alive umbrella planner.
Students are struggling w/ using the plan as a DRAFT, with words and phrases. Most students want to write the entire paragraph on the planning graphic organizer. The color strips didn't work too well, because students saw a long strip of paper, and feel the need to fill the entire strip of paper. We need to focus on how to plan EFFICIENTLY!!!!
SNAPSHOT! Narrow down the focus. Use CAMERA planner from Writing Alive. Have students actually ACT out the snapshot - making a freeze-frame picture.
